Korres Mango Butter Lipstick in 24 Purple - review and swatches

November 11, 2012

This is a Korres Mango Butter Lipstick in the shade 24 Purple. This was on sale on www.strawberrynet.com, where you get 2 Korres lipsticks for about $14. The problem was that you get two of the same colour, so my friend and I decided to order it and pay $7 each. There were a bunch of colours to choose from, but this was a colour we were both happy with.

So this lipstick is a sheer lipstick that contains SPF 10, and has 3.5g of product.

If you want to buy these in store in Australia, you can buy them at Kit Cosmetics for $35.95 - I suggest you keep an eye out for Korres sales on strawberrynet, because they will generally include a Korres product or two in their monthly specials.

The packaging is the same as most lipstick tubes, it is quite stream lined without any extra bulk, but I am not the biggest fan of the brown colour. It has a nice click to it when you close it, and the packaging doesn't feel cheap.

You can see from the swatches that this is a pretty sheer and shiny lipstick, it is more like a tinted gloss than a bold lipstick. The colour also is clearly not purple, it is more of a dark pink with a berry tone. You can apply this very sheerly or more bold, so it is a very versatile lipstick, and is probably a good option if you are scared of trying really bright colours. I think this is a very pretty colour and a very flattering lipstick, but it really does not last very long. The photo above is the lipstick just applied, but after about 20-30min it starts looking more like a tinted lip balm, and then after an hour or so it looks very sheer, almost like you have a very light stain on your lips. This does wear off quite nicely though, so even though it doesn't last very long, it doesn't look patchy or ugly while it is wearing off.

  • Nice berry colour - suitable all year round
  • Nourishing and has SPF 10
  • Good if you like sheer lipstick, or if you are worried about wearing bold colours
  • Has a nice cherry/berry smell to it
  • Doesn't last long
  • Is not purple
  • Is expensive unless you get it on sale

If you like a sheer wash of colour, then try this lipstick, but for me this will be an alternative to a day time lip gloss, as this doesn't have enough colour or lasting power for me to want to wear this out at night. I think this is a really nice alternative to a Revlon Lip Butter as it gives a nice amount of colour and moisture without any shimmer, so it looks more natural.

  1. I don't like having to carry my lipstick around to reapply all the time, but this does look gorgeous!
I've never tried anything from Korres. I was actually at Sephora a few hours ago looking at the Korres section and thinking "I'm dying to try something from this brand!" but then I told myself to stick to the products in my list and not buy on impulse, lol. x

    1. I can't agree more, reapplying often is so annoying! I would highly recommend korres lip butters. They are the best korres products in my opinion!

  2. This colour is so pretty on you! I love products containing mango butter, they are so smooth.

  3. This looks like a lovely shade! Seems incredibly versatile, yet strange that it isn't purple, as the name suggests. Glad you were able to find it at such a great price :)
