Femme Fatale Cosmetics Eye Shadow Samples - Cosmic Power, Enchanted and Illusions

November 25, 2012

I ordered a few things from Femme Fatale Cosmetics a little while ago (see haul here), and when I was on the Femme Fatale website I noticed that they send out a press kit for bloggers. I ended up applying for a press kit and I received three sample eye shadows and some information about Femme Fatale.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics is an Australian brand that specialise in hand blended mineral loose eye shadows, loose blushes/highlighters, and they also have an epic range of really unique and beautiful nail polishes. Femme Fatale provide great quality cosmetics at a very affordable prices, and they also have eye shadow sets, blush sets, and nail polish sets at discounted prices, and a lot of their products are vegan friendly. There are over 75 shades of eye shadows available, and you can choose to buy them in sample sizes, mini sizes or full sizes. I love the ability to buy products in sample sizes - you can easily try a whole range of shades and buy the larger sizes of the ones you use the most. Samples are $1.10 each and contain quite a lot of product (you will be able to see the amount later in this post).

Ok so in the press kit you get three samples of eye shadows, which are chosen at random. I was lucky to get quite wearable shades. The shades I got are Cosmic Powder, Enchanted, and Illusions.

Cosmic Power
Cosmic Power

The two above photos are of Cosmic Power, the top swatch is swatched wet - the perks of using mineral pigments is that you can apply it wet for a stronger application. The bottom swatch is the shadow applied dry. The fist photo shows the shimmer in the light, and the bottom photo is titled away from the light, which allows you to see the base colour. I did this will all three shadows.

The Femme Fatale website describes this shade as a delicate rose peach with violet duochrome. I agree with the violet duochrome, but I would describe the base as being more of a warm yellow. The shimmer in the swatches looks more pink than violet, but in real life it has a stunning bluey-purple shimmer.

Enchanted
Enchanted
The Femme Fatale website describes this colour as a dusky mid-tone rose pink with a hint of coral, complimented by a soft pink/red duochrome. This shade looks more pink in the packet, but when you swatch it, it does tend to develop into a darker pinky-brick red shade.

Illusions
Illusions
This is probably my favourite of the three shades, the website describes this colour as a brown based shade with a hint of auburn undertones, and teal duochrome finish. This shade reminds me of MAC's Blue Brown pigment, but what I like more about Illusions is that the base colour seems more of a rich brown, rather than the MAC pigment that has a really red base and can be hard to wear. The teal duochrome is really gorgeous in person.

I poured my samples into little containers, and you can see form the photo above, that you get quite a lot of product, definitely enough for a few uses. If you were interested in getting some of these samples, I would recommend that you have little jars to pour them into, only because the bags can get a bit messy.

Have you tried anything by Femme Fatale Cosmetics, or are you thinking of trying anything from them?
