MAC Nail Lacquers in Hyperion and Endless Night

October 19, 2012

My friend went to the Estee Lauder corporate store today and I asked her to pick up a few things for me that I didn't get when I went last week (see post here). Amongst the few things I got her to get for me were these MAC nail polishes, these shades stuck in my memory because they were so unique. I must admit, I don't own any MAC Nail Lacquers because $22 a nail polish is pretty crazy in my opinion. I thought these were beautiful colours, and they were reduced to $9 each.

So the pale grey blue is called Hyperion and the sheer nude with the iridescent pink shimmer is called Endless Night. After doing some research I found out that these are from the Daphne Guinness collection which was out a year ago, so sadly these are limited edition... but if you really want them you might get lucky on ebay.

I like the packaging of these polishes. They are typical MAC with the rubber black lid, and I think the long glass bottles are quite sleek and attractive. The brush is the same as any regular nail polish brush.

Two coats of Hyperion on two "feature nails" and two coats of Endless Night on the rest of the nails
Hyperion is a really pretty opaque colour that I was really impressed with how it turned out on the nails. It is opaque in two coats, but I did find that if you didn't have enough product on the brush it can pull a little and leave streaks... so the more product on the brush the better.

Endless Night is a really sheer nude, and has an even application with two coats. If you wanted this more opaque then you would need three coats. There is a slight pink iridescence to this polish, which is very hard to capture in a photo... the iridescence is no where as strong as what it looks like in the bottle, but the iridescence just makes the nude have a nice hint of pink in certain light. Very pretty.

I really like these shades, I will definitely get a lot of use out of them this Spring, as I have been steering away from my normal super bright nail polishes. I am not sure how well these last because these are my first MAC polishes, so I will edit in how well they last and whether I think they are worth the full retail price of $22.

  1. The estee lauder corporate store again! I'm still searching for a pass haha

i've never looked at MAC polishes as they're pretty overpriced. Even OPI is only $20 :) They're both really cute shades though! Hyperion is gorgeous. It actually looks like mint rather than pale blue :)

    1. It's a bizarre blue, it does have a green hint, but it is more of an egg shell blue. In some light its blue, in some lights its more grey. I like it! It is lasting very well without chipping, I have one OPI polish, but I find that it chips just as much as sportsgirl polishes, so I have never bought another. So far MAC is better than the OPI polish I have.

  2. $9 is an excellent price! I have not tried any MAC polishes but for that price I definitely would sample one or two. I love the iridescence in Endless Night :)

    1. I don't think many people do try MAC polishes. I am finding that its lasting quite well. I won't pay $22 for them (unless I am in love with a colour), but so far it is lasting much better than the one OPI polish I have... I only have one because the first one I bought chips like crazy!

  4. Hyperion is a gorgeous colour! It's very close to my wedding colour. I haven't tried MAC nail polish, but it is now very tempting.
