Jordana Brow/Eye Shadow Powder review and swatches - Shades 01 Natural Taupe, 02 Light Ash Brown, 03 Light Brown, 04 Brown, 05 Brunette, and 06 Auburn

October 10, 2012

Beautyjoint was having a 20% off Jordana, NYX, Milani etc sale a little while ago (which for us suckers in Australia pretty much covered the cost of shipping), so I ended up buying the whole range of Jordana Brow/Eye Shadow Powders. This might sound a little strange buying the whole set, but if you have followed my blog for any period of time you will know that I love brow products, and I am also in a matte eyeshadow phase at the moment - so this was a two in one. I bought some Jordana eyeshadows a few months ago (see review here) and I love them, not only are they super cheap ($1.99 on American websites) but they are surprisingly good quality eye shadows, and they also have metallic pans so when you depot them they work perfectly in z-palettes!

So just some boring details: these contain 2.35g of product each, which is 0.7g more than the normal Jordana eye shadows, and 0.85g more than MAC eye shadows. I bought mine for $1.99 at beautyjoint.com which ships internationally. There is a Jordana Australia site, but these brow products are not yet available. Since the eye shadows cost AUD$6 on the site, I would assume that these brow powders would be the same price, which is cheap for an eyeshadow in Australia but you can get them cheaper elsewhere if you are happy to pay for shipping. The Australian Jordana site does have free shipping on orders over $50 - which softens the blow a little.

The colours in the range are:
01 Natural Taupe
02 Light Ash Brown
03 Light Brown
04 Brown
05 Brunette
06 Auburn

Every one of these shadows are matte and nicely pigmented - which means you have to be quite light handed when using these on your brows, but it also means that they make a really nice eyeshadow. These colours are also very suitable brow colours, all of the shades (except for Auburn) have quite neutral almost taupe/grey undertones so you don't end up having orange or red eyebrows. I would use all of the shades from 02 to 05 on my brows - since I like to have lighter brows during the day and darker brows at night. I do also like that they included an Auburn colour which people with red hair will adore. They don't have a blackish shade, but after playing with these I have noticed that they do tend to apply darker on the brows, than how they look in the swatches below, or how they look in the pan. So if you have black hair, 05 Brunette would probably work well.

Pros:

  • Cheap - $1.99 each
  • Multi-purpose - both brow and eye shadow
  • Great colours
  • Matte
  • Good formula
  • 2.35g of product, which is larger than normal eyeshadows
Cons:
  • No colour suitable for people with black hair (this is being very picky, since 05 Brunette could work well)
  • Not yet easily available in Australia

Overall I am really pleased with these brow powders. I will depot them and add them to my nude z-palette that I am making, and I will no doubt get a lot of use out of these as brow colours and as matte eye shadows. Well done Jordana!
