Elf blush review and swatches - shades Candid Coral and Fushia Fusion

October 3, 2012 Melbourne VIC, Australia

Yay, I am finally getting around to reviewing these blushes! I got these two Elf blushes from beautyjoint.com where they retail for $3.99 each. I decided to get these in Candid Coral and Fuschia Fusion because my favourite coloured blushes are corals and blue toned pink. I do think these are great value, and I wish I bought more of these (even though I really don't need any more blushes). On the beautyjoint website there are 10 shades of these available.

The packaging of these are ok, it's a black plain plastic packaging with a little window which allows you to see the colour of the blush. I like the little window, but I think the packaging looks a little bulky and not very sleek. They also remind me of the Ned Kelly paintings by Sidney Nolan (see picture below)... That's probably a very Australian thing to say :P

I do like that these blushes contain a mirror, I think any mirror included is helpful if you take these in your makeup bag. I do however think these mirrors are a little bit small for putting on blush - but any mirror is better than no mirror.

Candid Coral is a very pretty shimmery peach that has a soft gold shimmer, which overall gives a rose gold look. It is a very shimmery and is a very sheer colour that is quite hard to build up to a bold colour. I have pretty light skin and on me this gives a soft peach cheek with a subtle gold shimmer that looks beautiful for a fresh summery look. If you are tanned or have darker shin then this will look more like a highlighter.

Fushia Fusion in the pan

Fushia Fusion is completely different to Candid Coral... it is very pigmented and easy to build up the colour, also instead of being shimmery, this blush is more of a matte blush with silver glitter flecks in it. I think this blush is really pretty if you love that girly doll look. I think this is more of a winter blush, as it will look very pretty with pale skin - however it is pigmented enough for it to work well on darker skin too. It is important to note that some of the glitter disappears on your brush so the look on your cheek is nowhere near as glittery as what it looks like in the pan, also in the swatches above I used my finger to apply it, and so this swatch is slightly more glittery than if you applied it with a brush.

Overall, I think these blushes are great value for $3.99, clearly the formula is varies greatly from shade to shade, but I think both of these blushes are beautiful shades and I will get a lot of use out of both of them (mainly the coral in summer and the fushia in winter). I think I may look at buying more of these blushes in the future.

Do you have any Elf blushes? Which shades would you recommend?
