Burt's Bees Head To Toe Kit

October 14, 2012

I managed to win this Burt's Bees Head To Toe Kit when I won the Lust Have It hamper last month (see post here). I am really glad I got this kit, because I have heard so many good things about Burt's Bees and a few months ago I decided to take advantage of a three for two sale and I bought three of their lip balms... and I really was not impressed (see review here). Since then I had no motivation to buy anymore of their products and to give them another go.

I have just got around to trying this kit out today, and instantly I am loving some of the products. This kit retails for $24.95 on the Burt's Bees Australian website. Even though the lip balm is the only full sized item in this pack, I think this is not only great value, but it also allows you to sample a range of their products before buying a full version of these and realising its just not for you. Warning though, this pack is a bombardment of strong scents, each product not only has a strong scent to it, but the scents are all different - this is not a set where all the scents are the same or complimentary, so if you don't like a strong scented skincare product then this pack probably isn't for you... but it definitely is for me!

This is what the kit contains:
  • Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream 20g sample - full size is 170g and retails for 24.95
  • Hand Salve 8.5g sample - full size is 85g and retails for $24.95
  • Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Lotion 25g sample - full size is 170g and retails for 19.95
  • Fabulously Fresh Peppermint & Rosemary Body Wash 50ml sample - full size not currently on the website
  • Coconut Foot Cream 20g sample - full size 123g and retails for 24.95
  • Beeswax Lip Balm full size sample - retails for $6.95

Beeswax Lip Balm - even though I have had bad experiences with this range of lip balms, I have never tried this original beeswax one because I thought it sounded boring, but boy was I wrong! This is not just a plain beeswax lip balm, it is a peppermint scented balm and must contain a lot of menthol because it is super tingly. I am a Carmex girl because I love menthol lip balms, so this is a winner. I am so disappointed that when I first tried these balms I didn't choose this flavour, the other ones in the range are no where near as good as this! I will enjoy this and repurchase for sure. This is a clear balm so its perfect for both males and females.

Hand Salve - this is something that I would never have bought because I don't have super dry hands, so I am glad I have a tester size. This is a firm salve that melts with the warmth of your hands, it's very easy to use, and a little goes a long way. This smells strongly of herbs, which I like and makes it feel more medicinal. This is the type of salve that is quite greasy, so you would want to apply this before bed or just apply it to super dry areas... this will be great for elbows and knees actually. Possible repurchase

Top: Foot Cream. Middle: Lotion. Bottom: Cream Cleanser
Coconut Foot Cream - I love a good foot cream and I realised, after using this, that I don't have any at the moment. This is a gel like cream that smells like coconut and peppermint. I hate the smell of coconut but the peppermint makes this not only bearable in scent but also cool and tingly on your feet. A little goes a long way with this cream and the amount on my hand in the photo above would be enough to moisturise both your feet. This is the type of greasy cream that is designed to be used before bed or with socks over the top. I will definitely consider buying the full size when this tube is done.

Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Lotion - this is a nice lotion that sinks into your skin beautifully. The scent is mild but smells slightly of herbs. This is a pleasant lotion, and I would consider repurchasing it, but at the moment I have about 7 lotions to use up before I consider buying this.

Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream - ok I am biased because hate cream cleansers, I love foaming cleansers, but this is amazing! I tried this in the shower today and I loved it. It smells deliciously fresh, is a nice thick cream, and must contain menthol or something because it also makes your skin feel nice and tingly and fresh. Out of all of these products, I like the scent of this cleanser the best, and once I get through all of my cleansers I well buy this for sure! This is the first cream cleanser that officially makes my skin feel great.

Fabulously Fresh Peppermint & Rosemary Body Wash - I love all things mint, so this shower gel was really nice. It foams super well which is what I look for in a body wash, so you don't have to use much product. I think the addition of the rosemary just softens the smell. If you love super minty fresh feeling body washes then try this! If I can find this in the shops I would repurchase this after I finish the three body washes I have :P

All in all, this is a great pack and after trying all of these products, the only think I may not buy the large version of is the hand salve, and that's only because I don't have dry hands. If I end up getting a lot of use of it I may consider buying the whole size of this as well. I am glad I won this pack, because I would never have tried any of these products otherwise.
