MUA Eyeshadow Palettes in Dusk Til Dawn and Glamour Nights - review and swatches

September 27, 2012 Melbourne VIC, Australia

I have has these two MUA palettes in makeup to be reviewed box for a long time now, and I decided to review these at the same time, otherwise it will take me a while to get around to doing both separately. I bought these from the MUA website when they were having a sale, but normally they cost £4.00, which is about $6 in Australia.

So I bought the Dusk til Dawn palette, which is supposed to contain day time colours (I'm assuming this is the top row), as well as some night time colours (the bottom row). I love this concept, because you can bring this one palette in your makeup bag and you can transform a day time look into a night time look. These colours are also perfect for me, because I love taupe colours during the day, and blue-turquoise for going out.

The second palette is the Glamour Nights palette, and this contains great colours to wear out at night. I decided to buy this palette because the purple and red looked amazing, and I liked that it contained a few matte colours.

I think with this palette, the star row is the top row. All of the colours are smooth and pigmented and blend really well. It also has a good range of day time colours, a new neutrals, highlights, and crease colours. My favourite colours on this row is the 2nd and 5th shade, they would make a really nice taupe look.

The second row is stunning, but the formula is not as strong overall. The gold, the turquoise and the purple are beautiful and super pigmented as easy to use... but the grey, navy, and black are more or a matte base with chunks of glitter and they aren't as pigmented, and create a lot of fall out. I'm sure these would look amazing if pressed onto a primer, but they weren't great swatched.

Here is a quick look I did using the top row of the Dusk til Dawn palette. I used the 2nd, 5th and 6th shade on that line.

The top row, in my opinion, is the weakest of the two. It contains some lovely colours, but sadly the matte white and matte grey are not very pigmented. The purple, navy and silver are the best from this row. The brown shade has a lot of fall out and is the same formula as the grey, navy and black on the bottom row of the Dusk til Dawn palette.

The bottom row is awesome! The matte black is outstandingly pigmented and blends well. The matte purple isn't quite as strong, but you can build up a good colour. The others are all beautiful shimmers. The stand out on this row is the red, it's soooo pretty in real life, its almost a lipstick pinky red.

Here is a quick using the Glamour Nights palette. I used the red all over the lid, the matte purple on the lower lash line, the dark purple in the crease and the silver in the inner corner

Overall both of these palettes have their strong shades and their weak shades. But for the price they're great value. I have reviewed quite a few MUA palettes on my blog (I'll list the links below) and compared to the other palettes I have tried, these aren't as consistently good, but if you love these colours, then pick them up because there some awesome shades in these two palettes.
