MUA Bronzed Perfection Bronzer review, swatches and comparison with Sleek and MAC

September 14, 2012 Melbourne VIC, Australia

I bought this bronzer from MUA a little while ago, and I was keeping it nice and pretty until I got around to doing a review on it. I am so happy I have finally opened it so I can play with this giant and impressive looking bronzer. I bought this on the MUA website and it costs £3.00, or $4.60 in Australia, plus shipping. This is a fantastic bargain since it contains a whole 15 grams of product, which is 2.5 times larger than a MAC blush/bronzer.

The packaging is a nice sturdy plastic, it has a clear lid which helps see the awesome design of the bronzer. The only complaint is that this bronzer comes in one shade. This shade is fine for my skin tone, but probably won't show up too much on people with tanned or dark skin.

Look how pretty!

This bronzer is very pigmented, but a little bit powdery. It is very easy to pick up product onto your brush, but it does create a bit of powder in the pan.

This bronzer looks mainly matte but has a slight gold shimmer in it that I could only notice in flash photography. I love that this is mainly matte because it means you can use this as both a bronzer and a contour (which is what I will mainly be using it as). Like I said before, this bronzer this is relatively light and would suit people with lighter skin, and it also has a yellow tone to it. I really like this product though, I used this as a contour colour today and it was very easy to apply.

Comparison with other contour powders I use

I decided to do a quick comparison with the two other contour products that I commonly use. These products are the Sleek Contour Kit in Light, and the MAC blush in the shade Harmony.

As you can see from the comparison above, this MUA bronzer is quite similar in shade to the other contour products that I use. MUA's Bronzed Perfection does have a slight shimmer to it, whereas the other two are completely matte. This bronzer also is the most yellow out of the three, and will suit people with a slightly yellower skin tone. The contour from Sleek is slightly more cooler toned and will probably suit more people as its more neutral. Harmony from MAC seems to be the most pink/peach of the three shades which will probably suit people with pink undertones. But overall these are all very similar in colour and pigmentation, the MUA Bronzed Perfection is however slightly more powdery than the other two.

I think MUA has come up with a great bronzer that can double as a contour. Out of the three products shown it is the largest and the cheapest, which means you are getting excellent value for money. For MAC you are getting 6g of product for $41 (in Australia), whereas the MUA Bronzed Perfection costs $4.60 and you get 15g of product! I know which one I will prefer to repurchase!
