Estee Lauder gift with purchase at Myer - September 2012

September 8, 2012

It's the Estee Lauder gift with purchase time of the year and since I haven't got one of these for years, I thought it was time to get one. So the deal is that if you spend over $70 at an Estee Lauder counter in Myer you get this gift set (see below). I believe this offer is on until the 15th of September.

You can choose between two skincare sets, but I chose the protection essentials option. I am excited to use every item in this pack, the only thing about this pack that I don't really like is the makeup bag, ah well you can't win them all!

In this set you get:
  • Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator - 7mL sample
  • Estee Lauder Day Wear - 15mL sample
  • Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Fresh Balancing Lotion - 50mL sample
  • Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser - 30mL sample
  • Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in 14 Rose Petal - full size
  • Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in 09 Rock Candy and 08 Plum Divine - 4.3mL each sample
  • Estee Lauder Sumptuous Exteme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara in 01 Extreme Back - 2.8mL sample
  • Estee Lauder Pure White Linen - 4mL sample
  • Makeup bag

To get gift pack I bought two items, and I decided to get more skin care type items because I have so much makeup, and I should start investing in items that I use more frequently. I ended up getting a full size of Day Wear moisturiser (50ml for $65) and the Matte Perfecting Primer (30ml $48), it was a bit of a splurge, but I used a few Myer vouchers which softened the blow.

I am going to make a public promise that from today I am going on a spending ban for the rest of 2012... I have ordered a lot of things from the internet this week and have spent far too much on makeup. I have plenty of new items coming that will keep me busy for my blog, and I have a lot of makeup in my collection that I have yet to review. So no more buying beauty products for 2012! Hold me to it!

Anyway I know you guys might think it a little weird that I bought this full Day Wear when a smaller one came in the gift set, but I love this stuff and I haven't used it in years, it was the only thing I really wanted from Estee Lauder. I thought I would also invest in a good primer since I am seriously lacking in the primer department. I will let you know what I think of it after I have used it a couple of times.

I had to put mum and baby together for a family photo!

So got the skin care I got a Perfectly Clean Fresh Balancing Lotion in a 50mL size, the full size is 200mL and retails for $45. I also the sample size Day Wear - I was actually surprised that this was so big, it contains 15ml (a quarter of the large size which costs $65, and half the size of the small size which costs $45). I am really looking forward to trying the Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator which contains 7mL of serum, I think I will use this in the morning, since it contains some fine shimmer and I really don't need to look illuminated at night - the full size contains 30mL and costs $80. Last skin care item is the Perfectly Clean Foaming Cleanser in a 30mL size, the full size is 125mL and retails for $52.

On to the beauty items! The gift contains a sample of the Sumptuous Extreme mascara, which will become my handbag mascara, this contains 2.8mL of product, I don't know how much product is in the full size but it costs $52. The lipstick is the only full size item in the pack, normally this lipstick costs $45, but I thought I would mention that the packaging in store is much more elaborate and expensive looking than the lipstick packaging in this gift pack. The lipstick is still nice though, and smells and feels just like the ones in store. You also get a 4mL sample of the Pure White Linen perfume, the 30mL version of this costs $80. This is a fresh floral scent, it does smell very clean but it smells strongly like lilies or white flowers. It's nice but its not really my thing, so I'm giving it to my mum who is a big fan of this perfume. Lastly you get two samples of the Pure Color Glosses, I don't know how much the full versions contain, but they cost $42 each. I was really impressed with the double ended glosses, it's a great way to try a couple of colours without having to buy two large tubes. I am not a huge gloss gal so I wouldn't invest in a huge tube of these glosses, since I would never use it enough to justify the cost. If these double ended glosses were available in store for the same price as the full gloss, then I would consider buying some, its a great idea!

Swatch without flash. Left to right: 14 Rose Petal lipstick, 09 Rock Candy Gloss, 08 Plum Divine gloss

Rose Petal is a nice mid toned pink lipstick, that has a sheer but buildable formula with a slightly silvery shimmery finish. It is a pretty pink and would suit a lot of skin tones. I don't have many of these work friendly pinks, since I always buy bright shades, but I can imagine getting a lot of use of this shade at work.

Rock Candy is a sheer bubble gum pink with almost a blue duo-chrome shimmer, its a very safe and wearable pink gloss but has that little special touch with the shimmer.

Plum Divine is a burgundy plum gloss with copper/gold shimmer. This looks intense in the tube but is quite sheer and wearable. I was hoping that this would be more opaque since I love a dark lip. I will probably only wear this over dark lipstick.

If anyone is interested in getting any of these items, you can get them from the Estee Lauder website, or you can head into Myer before the 15th of September to get this gift with purchase.
What do you guys think of this gift pack, or gifts with purchase in general?

  1. That's a pretty awesome GWP! I'd love to know how you like the primer, since I've been eyeing it myself ;)

  2. I picked up the invisible fluid foundation and matte primer to get the GWP. I love the double ended lip gloss!

I can't wait until my little only 10 products for 10 days trial is over to give the foundation and primer a go. How are you finding the primer?

    1. I wore it for the first time today, it did make my makeup stay more matte, but I don't think it made it last longer... I will try it over the next few days and then I might do a review. I'm curious to see what you think of it too!
