July Empties

August 7, 2012

Its bin night tonight, so theres no better time to do this July empties post. Here is a quick run through of the products I have finished over the last month.

Professional Sebastian Penetraitt Masque: This is a great hair masque for a deep conditioner, I found it really effective when I had long damaged hair. My only downside to this is that I felt like I used it up pretty quickly, probably because it only contains 150ml of product. I would repurchase this again because it is a good product, but I have since cut off a lot of my hair (including all the damaged ends) and don't need such a deep conditioner. If I feel like I have damaged hair in the future, I will turn to this for sure. You can buy this at http://www.beautybay.com/haircare/sebastian/ for $19.60.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser: I love this cleanser, it smells great, feels silky to use, is pretty cheap (approx $10-$11 in Australia) and it lasts a long time. I would purchase this, but I have since replaced this with the Aveeno foaming cleanser - which I don't like as much as the Positively Radiant one. Warning, this doesn't foam as much as normal cleansers, and you may need 3-4 pumps to make it foam, but even with using 3-4 pumps twice a day, this bottle lasted me months and months and months.

Garnier Youthful Radiance Day Moisturiser: I like this, I don't love this, but I like it. It smells great, is pretty cheap, and feels really nice to use. My only problem with it is that it is pretty light. I found myself having to apply a second coat after the first one soaked it... which also meant that I used it up pretty quickly. This would probably work well on very oily skin, but my combination skin needs a little more moisture.

L'Oreal Derma Genesis Cellular-Youth Creating Skincare SPF 15 Day Cream: I bought this aaages ago and I found it when I was cleaning out the bathroom. I decided to try this again and wasn't impressed - this is not an empty product, it is just one that I am throwing out. I found that this was far too greasy on my skin, it felt like I was just applying sunscreen to my face, it also smells like sunscreen... No wonder why I had it hidden under the sink!

St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub: I love this, I am taking a break from it because I think I have used three of these bottles in a row without trying something new. It smells great, is packed with scrubby bits, but is more gentle than their apricot scrub. This is again about $10-12 and I can't recommend this more. If you love a scrub that really does exfoliate your skin, try this!

The Body Shop Strawberry body butter: I adore this! My favourite scent is strawberry, and this smells amazing! This also reminds me of my youth because The Body Shop was my introduction into beauty products when I was around 12. It's not a cheap body butter (costs $27.95 in Australia) but it is very nourashing and smells divine. I mainly use this on my legs, and whenever I do I always get someone say "you smell nice". This tub is pretty huge (200ml) and lasts a long time. I will repurchase this (or try a difference scent) but I have a few body butters to get through before I buy anymore. If you love body butters, try The Body Shop body butters.

L'Occitane Cherry Blossom Hand Cream: I really like this, I got it in a pack of three as a present and this one is my favourite of the three. I have had these for a while and they have all been half used so I decided to focus on one at a time and use them up. It smells great and makes your hands feel really soft without feeling too greasy. Looking these up, they aren't cheap, in Australia they cost $12 for this 30ml tube. I don't know if I would repurchase, but it has been nice using it.

L'Occitane Aromachologie Revitalizing Cream Gel For Tired Legs: I got this in a gift pack and originally I never knew when to use it. I used to run quite a bit and often had tried legs, but these days I'm either sitting at uni or at work and I am often tired, but my legs aren't. I decided to use it anyway and I love the tingly menthol feel, it kinda feels like what I would imagine putting toothpaste on your legs would feel like. I really enjoyed this, but this sample size didn't last very long... I would repurchase but I can't find the price of it online, and I have a feeling that the price would probably put me off buying it any time soon.

Cutex 2 in 1 Base Coat: I have already repurchased this, as I won't put nail polish on without a base coat. I mainly get this brand because it's about half the price of the Sally Hansen one - this one costs around $5-6 in Australia, and Sally Hansen is about $12. I have no complaints, it gets a little thick towards the end of the bottle, but what nail polish doesn't? I have been using base coats from Cutex for years now, and no doubt years to come.

So that's all I have used up for July (besides other boring things like toothpaste), I am on a mission to downsize some of my beauty products so hopefully there will be more empties posts soon!

  1. I love the body shop body butters, my favourite is the brazil nut. I would love to try the L'Occitane hand cream.

  2. Haha nothing better than an empties post on bin night! I love L'Occitane hand creams, they always smell amazing. Good on you for throwing out some products, it's sometimes hard to toss stuff that isn't empty but it feels so good once you do it.

  3. I've been obsessed with empties posts/project pan posts lately, you're feeding into it ;)! Wow, I can't believe the St.Ives Green Tea Scrub is $10-12 in Australia, I can grab it here for $4 at my grocery store, robbery!

Looking forward to seeing more empties post, don't you always feel so accomplished when everything's all done and laying in front of you? haha

    1. Every makeup/skin care thing in Australia is ridiculously over priced. A good example of this is Relvon lip butters are $22 here. I find that stupidly overpriced for what they are!

I love the moment when you can throw all of the bottles out! I forgot to include a mascara so I have to hold on to that for another month :(
