Review and swatches Maybelline Color Tattoo: Tough as Taupe, Fierce and Tangy, Pomegranate Punk, Bold Gold and Bad to the Bronze

July 22, 2012 Melbourne VIC, Australia

So I bought 25 Bad to the Bronze a few weeks ago, and I love it. You can see my initial review, and comparison to Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow/Liner here. The only reason I didn't get more was because most of them were sold out. Priceline currently has these on sale for $7.95 down from $11.95 so I decided to pick up a few more. I bought 35 Tough as Taupe, 10 Fierce & Tangy, 30 Pomegranate Punk, and 45 Bold Gold.

Please note: for some reason my Pomegranate Punk came in the Audacious Asphalt container.

I got these five colours because I thought they were most wearable for me, the five I skipped were the white, the silver, the blue, the green, and the purple. I may in the future get the green or the blue.

These are really good, especially for the price. I probably prefer the Benefit creaseless cream eyeshadow/liner but they are pretty much three times the price of these, and I would much prefer to have three of these than one of those. Same goes for MAC paint pots. These are easy to use, any when I don't use these with shadow over the top or a primer underneath, they last at least 5 hours without any creasing. I commend Maybelline for bringing out two matte shades (Tough as Taupe and Fierce & Tangy), and I find these are the colours that tend to stay put the longest without creasing. I was surprised that Bold Gold is a little sheer, but I like that because it makes it easily wearable, you can also build it up. The Fierce & Tangy was my risky colour, but it reminds me of summer (which I miss), so I will make it a mission to try to wear this often, and not just hide it in my makeup drawer.

That leads to my only problem with this range, there really aren't any neutral shades. For me, the most wearable shades are the bronze, taupe, and maybe the gold. I know these are all very fun with the bright colour range, but for me to use these up and feel the need to repurchase, there needs to me some neutral shades in both shimmery and matte.

Love these, I highly recommend. Does anyone else have any of these colours?
Xx

  1. Looks like you've got Pomegranate Punk in an Audacious Asphalt packaging, that's odd :/ Anyway, great review, loving Fierce and Tangy, hopefully they'll release it in the UK soon! xx

  2. Yeah I had the same thing on my pomegranate punk container, so it must be a manufacturing thing.
