Requested loose pigment look - featuring MAC Old Gold and Copper Sparkle

July 5, 2012

So when I did my post about the loose pigments I have in my collection, I had a request to do a look using some of the pigments. I finally got around to doing it, even though it was a little rushed. Just a heads up, I like and use makeup but I am not in any way a makeup artist, so please keep that in mind. This is just a demonstration how I like to use pigments.

I used NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Walnut Pearl, NYX Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment in Iced Mocha, MAC Pigment in Copper Sparkle and also in Old Gold, The Body Shop mineral pigment in Nude Gypsum, and I used Maybelling Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze as a base.

So this is the look. I put the color tattoo all over as a base, then covered that with NYX Iced Mocha, in the outer corner, in the crease, and under the eye I used NYX Walnut Pearl. I dotted some MAC Copper Sparkle just above the iris of my eye, and I used a bit of MAC Old Gold as a highlight in the corner of the inner eye. I used a little of The Body Shop pigment on the brow bone.

This is what I used for the rest of the face:
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 53
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in 52
Korres Blush in 15 Natural
Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in 022 Sunset Peach
Smashbox Cream Eye Liner in Java - for the eyebrows
Korres Soft Eyeliner Pencil in Black
Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara in Blackout

This looks much more dramatic in real life than it does on camera, I thought I would look a little over done when I go meet my friend for a coffee so I took a dry cotton makeup remover pad and wiped some of the pigment off to make a more wearable look. I thought I would take a photo of that look too since it shows that if you use the pigments in a more light handed way, you can make a pretty natural look.

One of my other favourite pigment looks uses Violet and Blue Brown from MAC, I will try to do that look soon too.

Thanks for reading, please follow xx

  3. Ahh! Thanks so much for doing this Kat. You're kewl. Yep "kewl".

This is such a striking look. I'm officially won over by Old Gold. I can imagine it'd look really beautiful with a green pigment too.

Looking forward to the Violet and Blue Brown pigment combo.

    xx.
