My favourite boring products/the products I ALWAYS keep in my bathroom

July 17, 2012 Melbourne VIC, Australia

This is a very random post, and I haven't read any post that is similar to this. I will explain further because it probably doesn't make much sense to begin with. Ok so these are the bathroom products that I can't live without. These are the items that I buy in bulk and if I run out I have to go straight to the shops to buy again. These are also the products that I don't change, the products that I repurchase over and over. I know this may sound boring, but beauty blogs are all about trying new products, and mentioning new favourites. However we all have items that we never change, for example by boyfriend has been using the same type of Head and Shoulders shampoo, the same Brut deodorant, and the same Cetaphil moisturiser for the past two and a half years I have known him. Even though we all have products like these, no one ever reviews them or lists them in their favourites posts.  I have decided to do a quick blog on the boring products that I never change. Don't get me wrong, there are other general products that I can't live without, but these are the only ones that I always keep the same.

Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm - I currently have 4 tubes of this floating around my house. I have two originals, one strawberry and one cherry. The original is my favourite and I usually keep a tube or a tub next to my bed and a tube in my bag. If i had to give up all lip balms but one, this is the one I would keep purchasing forever.

Dove Clear Touch Anti White Marks deodorant: For some reason, and I don't know why, I have only been buying Dove roll on for the past 4 - 5 years. I guess it must be pretty good if I never stray from that brand. I will either buy the anti-white mark one or the cucumber and green tea, I love the smell of the cucumber and green tea one, but sometimes it's good to mix it up, and in that case I go for the anti-white mark one. I remember getting a lot of white deodorant marks on my clothes when I was in early highschool, I guess that is no longer a problem since I can't even remember any recent time when I had that problem. I guess it really does work!

Colgate Triple Action toothpaste: I love this toothpaste and have bought this exact one for the past 3 years of living out of home. I tried a different toothpaste once and went straight back to this one. I like how it contains minty gel and the white paste that whitens your teeth. This toothpaste covers all bases.

Norsca Clear Passion Flower Anti White Deodorant: So this is a new addition to my forever repurchase club, I love that it has 24 hours of protection and does not leave white marks, but the smell is so nice too, its like a fresh passion fruit. I do alternate this with the Rexona deodorant which I have been using for about 5 years now, my favourite is the cotton dry one.

U by Kotex tampons: I am noticing that I am a creature of habit, I started using these tampons (and pads) about 7 or 8 years ago, and for some reason I haven't strayed from this brand. I honestly don't know why I like these so much, it might be the bright colours of the wrapping, but they work so well. If I have ever used another brand, I always come back to these.

Dove soap: I do like trying out new fancy soaps when they are given to me, but if I need to go out and buy soap, I will always buy Dove or the Australian Botanical Soap mentioned next. I always buy Dove soap (either in original or cucumber and green tea) in a four pack, or larger packs if they are on sale. The skin on the top of my back is pretty sensitive and can get really dry if I use really harsh soap, Dove tends to minimise some of the dryness. Dove soap just feels luxurious when you use it.

Australian Botanical Soap: This soap is great, I purely buy it for the smell: lemongrass and lemon myrtle is amazing! This is harder to find, you can get it from some markets and select supermarkets. I was looking online at and have noticed that they have some other awesome fragrances. I might expand my range next time I buy some.

Coles Nail Polish Remover Non Acetone: This isn't neuroscience, I buy this because it does the job and is cheap, it is also acetone free.

Priceline Round Cotton Makeup Removal Pads: Like above, I buy these because they are Priceline brand which is the cheapest makeup removal pads in the store, they often come discounted if you buy two at a time, and it gives me an excuse to go to Priceline and browse at new things.

Sorry if that was boring. I love to try new makeup, new skin care, hair products etc etc, but these are the items that I never stray on. What products do you never change?

  1. Boring? Never! This was actually a pretty interesting post to read. I love sticky-beaking at people's staple products.

The only couple of products I stay loyal to are my Lucas Paw Paw Ointment (in the tub) and my Venus Breeze razor. I keep the Paw Paw ointment by my bed for putting on my lips before I go to sleep (my boyfriend borrows it too). Except maybe for Blistex, I've never found a lip balm I've liked more. Plus those tubs last ages. As far as the razor goes, I love the look of it, the fact that it has a shower caddy, and the handy little gel strips attatched to the cartridges.
