Korres Natural Look and High Drama Antioxidant Color Collection review and swatches

June 18, 2012

The magical postman delivered me a package from Strawberrynet.com today! I got two Korres gift packs. The first one is called the Natural Look Antioxidant Color Collection, and the second is the High Drama Antioxidant Color Collection. I bought the Natural Look pack for $16, and the High Drama pack for $20.

Natural Look Antioxidant Color Collection contains:
  • 2x Sunflower & Evening Primrose Eye Shadow 1.8g/0.06oz (#31 Bronze Brown, #36 Brun)
  • 1x Soft Eyeliner Pencil 1.14g/0.04oz (#1S Black)
  • 1x Provitamin B5 & Rice Bran Mascara 9ml/0.3oz (#01 Black)
  • 1x Cherry Oil LipGloss 6ml/0.2oz (#30 Naked Beige)

High Drama Antioxidant Color Collection contains:
  • 4x Sunflower & Evening Primrose Eye Shadow 1.8g/0.06oz (#25 Golden, #28 Golden Brown, #55 Metallic Grey, #49 Cypress Green)
  • 1x Soft Eyeliner Pencil 1.14g/0.04oz (#1S Black)
  • 1x Cherry Oil Lipgloss 6ml/0.2oz (#27 Plum)
  • 1x Provitamin B5 & Rice Bran Mascara 9ml/0.3oz (#01 Black)

Ok so I had to jump at these deals because in Australia, Korres is sold at Kit Cosmetics and the prices are crazy! Each eyeshadow costs $29.95, each lip gloss costs $29.95, the eyeliners are $29.95 each, and the mascaras are $35.95 each. So pretty much I got all of the products listed above for the cost of one mascara! There were other sets available too at http://au.strawberrynet.com/makeup/korres/ but I thought these two kits because the colours were the most wearable for me.

The eyeshadows:

The six colours I got were: 25 Golden, 28 Golden Brown, 36 Brun, 55 Metallic Grey, 49 Cypress Green, and 31 Bronze Brown

Swatch with flash:

These eyeshadows are great quality, they are very soft and pigmented. They are all shimmery, with the least shimmery being Brun. I generally don't like grey eyeshadows because don't suit me, but this one is a warmer grey and almost looks taupe in the swatch with no flash. I am looking forward to experimenting with this colour.

The packaging is really cute, it looks like a mini blush container (without the mirror) which you can see here Korres blush review. I usually de-pot my eyeshadows, but I might keep these in their packaging because they are so cute. I especially like that the sticker on the bottom corresponds to the colour of the eyeshadow, once again this is the same as the blush packaging.

Each eyeshadow contains 1.8 grams of product which is 0.3 grams more than a MAC eyeshadow.

Lip Gloss and eye liner swatch with flash:

This eye liner is very smooth to use. it's also very dark and pigmented. In the swatch I only drew two lines, and I was very impressed with how soft it was to use. This would be a perfect to use on your water line, as it goes on smoothy, isn't dry, and won't scrape your eye.
Edit: I used this eyeliner today and it's amazing to use. I used it on the lid, the waterline and the tightline, and I love it. It's really black, really smooth, and easy to use. It can also be easily smudged out for a more smokey look. I also noticed that the pencil says that it's a "smooth pencil ideal for the inside of the lid", I can't agree more. I'm so happy I have two of these!

The lip glosses both contain shimmer, the most shimmery one is the Beige. They smell strongly like cherry, but the smell disappears after a little while. They aren't at all sticky, and the Plum colour is quite opaque and the Beige is sheer.

These are both the same type of lip gloss, but one is the older packaging and the other is the newer packaging. I believe the one with the white lid is the old packaging.

Beige swatch without flash:

As you can see, the beige is a very sheer nude colour, with a little but of shimmer. The plum is more opaque and comes up looking quite bright in the photo with flash. The photo without flash is more true to life, as this is a dark blue based red gloss.

Mascara:

I am yet to try the mascara, but I thought I would show what the wand looks like. This mascara contains 6mL of product and claims to be a lengthening/high definition that contains provitamin B5 which supposedly nourishes the lashes.

Korres is a Greek brand, so lets hope that their failing economy leads to more discounts on their make up!
